Purpose
This course is appropriate for educators that teach children in any educational level. Participants have the opportunity to discuss and debate critical and sometimes controversial issues that affect the education of children and adolescents in various settings. Numerous factors may contribute to students’ inability to learn. Educators will be familiar with certain causes of school failure, such as family dysfunction, social problems, ineffective schooling, specific learning disabilities, temperamental dysfunction, attention deficits and emotional illness or chronic illness. Moreover, participants will be familiar with most common learning disabilities in order to recognize them and to intervene properly to those students that need their help.

Objectives
- To raise common understanding and awareness of issues that deal with school failure and learning disabilities
- To understand which students are more prone to develop learning disabilities
- To create and implement effective educational programs in order to help students achieve their educational objectives
- Improve teachers’ competences developing new teaching methodologies that allow them to teach to different kind of pupils, including pupils with learning disabilities
- Increase teachers’ motivation in difficult situations, as teaching to students with problems
- Educators could give parents better support about how to deal with children with learning disabilities

Cultural activities
In the middle of the course, mainly on Wednesday, a local cultural activity is organised (e.g guided
tour to the city) giving the participants the chance to explore the main attractions and enhance their
cultural awareness.

and taking into consideration the availability of the trainer.
